WAUKESHA, WI - We are covering breaking news out of Wakesha, Wisconsin where a Red SUV barreled down parade goers. At 4:39 PM on November 21 at Gasper Ave and Main Street a Red SUV drove through barricades headed westbound. It struck nearly 40 people and there are 5 confirmed fatalities at this time.
Police Chief Thompson stated that there was an officer who discharged their service weapon at the Red SUV however it missed but did not strike anyone. The officer is on standard administrative leave during the investigation. Closed roads have reopened. Chief said he “saw heroes coming together that day.” Many people were transported multiple ways to local hospital, from Fire to police, to local citizens who sprung in to action. Also stepping up were off duty officers who were attending the parade.
The Police Chief wants to dispel rumors going around. There were reports that this was because of a police chase, this is not true. The Chief also stated that it is not a terrorist act. He thanks first responders for their quick action. From the Waukesha Fire and Police.
