JoHannah E. Gard, age 94 of Bourbon, IN passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 in her home.
JoHannah was born to Clarence and Mary (Verier) Slough on April 2, 1927 in Rock Creek, OH. She has since been a life long resident of the Bourbon and Etna Green area. She graduated from Etna Green High School and was a member of the Etna Green United Methodist Church. She married Lowell T. Gard on June 29, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1993. She was a volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital and a homemaker. She was the first president of O.N.O (Our Night Out) Club, which she helped found with other high school girlfriends. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed mowing her yard “her way”, watching Indiana University basketball, and she loved all kinds of animals.
JoHannah is survived by her sons: Jeffery (Joyce) Gard of New Carlisle, IN; Eric (Janie) Gard of Carmel, IN; her grandchildren: Heath (Gwenda) Gard; Trina Gard; Katie (Blake) Weishaar; Maggie (Josh) Snader; Matt (Katie) Gard; her great-grandchildren: Jarrett Gard; Cole Gard; Ben Weishaar; and Evelyn Weishaar.
JoHannah is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lowell; her daughter, Janice Gard on August 31, 2008; her son, Gregory Gard on September 6, 2008; her sister, Jane Harman; and her grandson, Andrew Gard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Etna Green Methodist Church (131 W. Broadway St., Etna Green, IN 46524) or a nearby “no kill” animal shelter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Etna Green United Methodist Church (131 W. Broadway St., Etna Green, IN).
Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kenneth Cooke presiding.
Face masks are suggested during visitation and funeral services due to the area being in the “Red COVID-19 designation” at this time.
Burial will take place in Etna Green Cemetery (10305 W. 300 N. (High Street), Etna Green, IN 46524).
