Pilgrims Post Season High on Senior Night

The Lady Pilgrim gymnastics team hosted West Noble High school last night in the first dual meet of the season. The Pilgrims posted a season high team score of 98.75 to claim the victory. The highest team score for the Pilgrims since setting the school record in 2020. The JV team also took home the win with a score of 49.55 to 24.8.
The Pilgrims started the night on vault. Lilly Hinderlider and Joy Everett placed 2nd (6.3) and 1st (8.1) respectively in the JV lineup. On the Varsity level Dorothy Karris and Susie Everett found the podium finishing 3rd (8.6) and 4th (8.3). Arielle Ferman rounded out the lineup finishing with an 8.0.
On to bars the Pilgrims saw the start of the return of the upper classmen with Senior Taytem Saylor and Junior Kasi Harner working their way back into the lineup coming back from injury. Dorothy Karris, Tessa Hutchinson, and Taytem Saylor all placed on the event finishing 1st (8.2), 3rd (7.85), and 6th (7.45). Harner and Sue Everett completed the varsity lineup posting scores of 5.9 and 5.1. For the JV team Joy Everett finished first with a 5.35, Paris Maddox 2nd with a 5.1, Arielle Ferman 3rd with a 5.0, and Piper Frank 4th with a 4.9.
Moving to beam the momentum kept going as the Pilgrims recorded 3 no fall routines out of the 5 competing. Dorothy Karris completed her second no fall in a row to post a season high 9.2 to win the event. Joy Everett finished her third in a row for a 7.65 to win the event on the JV side. Susie Everett had her first no fall of the year with a 7.65 to place 2nd on the Varsity Side. Also competing were Arielle Ferman with a Varsity 5th place 6.75 and Lilly Hinderlider for JV 3rd with a 4.9.
Wrapping up the meet the Pilgrims were back in full force on floor. Tessa Hutchinson and Kasi Harner both returned to the lineup. 4 of the 6 all posted season highs on the event. Dorothy Karris, Tessa Hutchinson, Kasi Harner, and Arielle Ferman all found the podium with their new PRs finishing 1st (9.2), 2nd (8.85), 4th (8.6), and 6th (8.2). Combined for a team 26.65, it is the highest floor total since 2020. Also competing were Susie Everett (8.1) and Joy Everett (7.55) for 1st place in the JV competition.
In the All-Around Joy Everett finished 1st for JV with a score of 28.65. On Varsity Dorothy Karris placed 1st with another season high 35.3 and Susie Everett placed 5th with a 29.15.
Concluding the meet the Pilgrims honored seniors Dorothy Karris and Taytem Saylor. Dorothy is a 4 year member of the PHS gymnastics team and a 3 year captain. Karris plans to attend DePauw University next year to study Psychology and continue her cheerleading career. This is Taytem’s first year on the PHS team. Taytem plans to attend University of Tampa to study Marine Biology.
The Pilgrims are back in action Wednesday January 26th at Elkhart High School.
